Who we are

MT Appliances Repair is a Kolkata-based home appliance repair business serving households, apartment complexes, property managers and small offices across the city. A team of trained technicians covers the city and its immediate suburbs, and every repair carries a 30-day warranty.

We work on five appliance categories - refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens and geysers - and we work on them across brands. Almost all of our work happens at the customer’s home. Appliances are heavy, awkward to transport, and usually needed back the same day, so doorstep repair isn’t a marketing feature for us; it’s simply how the job should be done.

What we’ve built the business on is unglamorous: arrive when we said we would, diagnose the actual fault instead of guessing, quote before starting, and stand behind the work afterwards.

We are an independent repair service - what that means for you

We are not an authorised service centre

MT Appliances Repair is an independent, multi-brand appliance repair business. We are not an authorised service centre for any appliance manufacturer. We have no affiliation, partnership, endorsement, sponsorship, licensing arrangement, or any other formal relationship with any appliance manufacturer or brand.

If you are looking for a manufacturer’s own authorised service centre, you should contact that manufacturer directly through their official customer care number or website. We are not that, and we will never suggest otherwise.

Why we say this so clearly

Because it matters to you, and because the appliance repair market has a real problem with it.

Search for appliance repair in any Indian city and you’ll find listings that describe themselves in ways designed to look official - using brand names prominently, borrowing manufacturer logos, or calling themselves a “service centre” for a brand they have no connection to. People call those numbers believing they’ve reached the manufacturer. That’s misleading, and in our view it’s the single most damaging practice in this industry.

We’d rather you choose us knowing exactly what we are: a competent independent repair service that fixes appliances well and charges fairly. If knowing that makes you decide to go to the manufacturer instead, that’s a perfectly reasonable decision, and we’d rather you make it with accurate information.

What independent repair means for your warranty

This is the practical consequence, and it’s worth understanding before you book.

If your appliance is still within its manufacturer warranty period, a repair carried out by an independent provider may void the remaining warranty. Manufacturers generally require warranty-period service to be performed through their own authorised channels.

So our advice is simple:

Appliance still under manufacturer warranty? Contact the manufacturer first. In most cases the repair will be free or heavily subsidised under warranty, and using us would cost you money and your remaining cover. If you call us and tell us the appliance is under warranty, this is exactly what we’ll tell you.
Warranty expired, or appliance out of coverage? This is where an independent service usually serves you better - faster response, direct access to the technician, transparent pricing, and no incentive to push replacement over repair.

How we use brand names on this website

We list appliance brand names on our service pages for one reason: to tell you which appliances our technicians are able to work on. Someone with a Bosch front-load washing machine needs to know whether we can help.

All brand names, trademarks, product names and model names mentioned anywhere on this website remain the property of their respective owners, and appear here purely for identification and descriptive purposes. Their appearance does not indicate any affiliation with, authorisation by, or endorsement from those companies.

We deliberately do not display manufacturer logos anywhere on this site, and we do not use brand names in our business name, page titles, or advertising, because doing so creates exactly the impression of official association that we’re telling you doesn’t exist.

When we’ll tell you to go to the manufacturer instead

There are situations where we’re not your best option, and we’d rather say so upfront:

Your appliance is still under manufacturer warranty (see above).
The fault involves a manufacturer recall or known defect programme, where the brand may repair it at no cost.
The repair requires a proprietary part or diagnostic tool available only through the manufacturer’s own network.
The appliance is beyond economical repair - where the repair cost approaches what a replacement would cost, we’ll show you the comparison and let you decide without pressure.

We’d rather lose a job than take money for work that doesn’t serve you.

How we work

We diagnose before we quote.

No price is given until a technician has actually examined the appliance. A phone estimate for a fault nobody has seen is a guess, and guesses turn into revised bills.

You approve the price before work starts.

You’ll be told what’s wrong, what needs doing, what it costs, and how long it takes. If you’d rather not proceed, you pay the visit charge and nothing more.

We don’t sell parts you don’t need.

Gas refilling for fridges and ACs is the most over-prescribed service in this industry. We test first, and if your appliance doesn’t need it, we tell you.

We tell you what we’re fitting.

Depending on the appliance and model, we use OEM or high-quality compatible spare parts - and we tell you which one before it goes in.

We stand behind the work.

Repairs carry a 30-day warranty on parts fitted and labour performed. Same fault returns in that window, we come back.

After the inspection: You receive a firm quote covering parts and labour.
If you accept: That’s the amount you pay - we don’t add charges afterwards.
If you decline: You pay the visit charge only.

We publish this because unclear pricing is the main reason people hesitate before calling a repair service, and because you should be able to know what you’re committing to before you pick up the phone.

Our technicians

Every technician who arrives at your door is a trained repair professional, not a salesperson working on commission. They carry identification, and they carry the spare parts that fail most often so that most jobs finish on the first visit.

Letting a technician into your home means trusting a stranger - often when you’re there alone with children or elderly family members. That trust is the foundation of this business, and it’s why every visit starts with the technician identifying themselves.

Our technicians work across brands and appliance types, and they’re expected to explain the fault to you in plain language. If you want to understand what went wrong and why, ask - a good technician can always explain their diagnosis.
